An Introduction (of sorts)

By Louis | Sep 17, 2008

“It’s not a question of enough, pal. It’s a zero sum game; somebody wins, somebody loses. Money itself isn’t lost or made; it’s simply transferred from one perception to another.” - Gordon Gekko from the film “Wall Street”

My, how time flies. It seems just like yesterday when I first saw the film Wall Street, or when I read from my first financial blog… or when I first sat down and thought about my net worth. Well, today happens to be another first: My first blog post!

First, I would like to thank the staff of Twenties Money Magazine (the whole two of them) for giving me this opportunity. I’ve always been interested in personal finance and I’ve spent a lot of time reading other blogs and articles on the subject. I am very excited to get the chance to share with all of the readers of TMM my opinion on certain matters and to receive feedback for it.

Before I jump in, I would like to take this time to introduce myself. I know that as a blog reader, it is hard to understand where a writer is coming from if you don’t know anything about them. My name is Louis and I’m a 21 year old freshman (BA Major) out of Long Island, NY. I graduated from High School in 2005 and since then, have been taking time off from school to work in Commercial Real Estate Appraisal. I’m now officially back in school and plan on getting my degree as quickly as possible.

I’ve really been interested in personal finance for the past few years and have several financial blogs that I read daily with my morning coffee. As a reader, I love to hear about the writers’ problems and how they overcame them, their strategies and their views. Now, as a writer myself, I feel that I have a huge responsibility in writing captivating pieces that will intrigue readers and help them to achieve their goals.

Now, how do I plan on going about that? What type of topics do I plan on writing about? Well, anything and everything that I can that affects the young twenty-something in this crazed market. Spending, saving, investing, retirement? Yes! How about current events? Lehman Brothers going Bankrupt? Merrill Lynch sold to BoA? Yes! I give my word that I will attempt to turn out one quality piece a week (minimum) for as long as I am allowed to. If something catches my eye, say a big event or maybe even a viewers comment, I’m sure the staff at TMM will have no issue with me posting.

As you can probably tell, I am very excited to be here. I feel this is a wonderful opportunity for me and I plan on taking full advantage of it. I think TMM is a great site that serves a great purpose. Of course, I am still young. As much as I know, there is still much, much more out there for me to learn. So I would love to hear some feedback on my future articles by you, the readers. Critique my work, please! I am here to learn just as much as you are.

Until then, stay bullish TMM readers!
