This week I was part of a debate and witnessed another last night. Debates can get really heated as the one I participated in did. The subject being debated was the threat of Cyber Terrorism, I was on the side stating it WAS a threat. Upon planning for the debate my team really though we had it in the bag, we had so many arguments lined up and ready and counter points to any potential counter argument the other team might throw at us. Little did I realize the fight the opposing team had in them!
Last night was the first presidential debate between McCain and Obama. I’m still up in the air about whom I plan on voting for. Each side said things that directly address me, McCain is more Veteran and DOD focused. In this sense he takes care of me as a veteran, and takes care of my employment as a contractor. On the other hand Obama seems to be sided with my income class and domestic issues as most democrats are. I’ve only recently begun taking an interest in politics because I feel as though we MUST do so. If you consider it, any decisions made today will effect US tomorrow. Either way, this is not a political blog, just a finance blog. I do however, strongly encourage EVERY twenty something to pay attention, vote and make your voice heard!
Without any further political talk… lets get to it! Here are the links I found interesting this week. Since my company was moving I did not get much time to keep my reader up so the list is short!

From the career side of the house an article on Brazen Careerist titled 5 Groups Gen-Y need to join today.
Another good one from Brazen Careerist is “How to Start a Business with no money.” Although it’s not the greatest idea it definitely highlights some good points. Just last week I spoke with a gentleman who started a staffing firm when he was 24. He told me if there was a single piece of advice he could give me, it would be to make sure I have plenty of capital and personal savings before jumping onto the business train!
